The 10 Best Wireless Speakers of 2022
It’s a crowded market out there when it comes to wireless and Bluetooth speakers. We’ve seen the landscape get a lot more sophisticated, from small plastic portables that didn’t sound all that great, to full-fledged Hi-Fi capable that would put a smile on any audiophile’s face. We’ve cut through the clutter in this list and have our 10 Best Bluetooth Speakers for 2019 across the entire market. We start with the best budget wireless speakers and then move right on up to the best sounding Bluetooth speakers for bigger budgets. Keep in mind, sound can be very subjective, and just because our list doesn’t feature a model you might love, doesn’t mean it’s still not a great speaker. These are OUR picks, but we think you’ll love them all — let’s get to it!
Amazon Echo Dot (3rd Gen.) – Currently under $50 on Amazon
Small, portable and a vast improvement from previous generations. At this price, it’s an excellent way to get into the smart home/speaker world without spending a lot. (If you’re into talking to your devices). It beats the Google Mini and has fantastic call/voice quality. This isn’t for the audiophile, but if you want something for low volumes, good for phone conferencing and love talking to a computer then this is for you!
The Good: Cheap way into the smart speaker world
The Bad: Not going to make you want to get up and dance
UE (Ultimate Ears) Wonderboom – Currently under $69 on Amazon
We’ve loved this small, rugged and good sounding speaker from the start. Lots of bang for the buck, can take a licking and sounds bigger than it is. If you want something under $100, water-resistant and able to get bounced around, then this is the Bluetooth speaker for you. Another fine addition to UE’s rock-solid wireless speaker lineup.
The Good: Big sound from a small package, Rugged and waterproof, Long Battery, Use multiple speakers
The Bad: Not much at this price
Bose Soundlink Micro – Currently under $100 on Amazon
Bose knows how to get a lot of sound in a very small package, and nothing exemplifies that more than the much bigger than the expected sound that comes from a speaker no bigger than the Echo dot, but packs a much larger punch. It’s true there’s a lot of stiff competition at this price, but the sounds coming from this little box can’t be denied. The convenient built-in rubber strap also makes it really easy to attach to bikes, golf carts etc. Read our full review here of the Bose Soundlink Micro here
The Good: Small and powerful, quality sound, built-in mic
The Bad: Stiff competition at this price
Bose SoundLink Color – Currently $129 on Amazon
Bose packs a lot of technology into this rugged colorful box. We like this one over some of the revolve units on our best Bluetooth speaker list because at this price it’s tough to find anything that sounds better! If you’re willing to spend a few bucks more than the UE Wonderboom then you’ll hear some finner sounds from this cute little guy available in a toon of fun colors. This one is a no brainer at the price.
The Good: Great value and powerful bass for the buck
The Bad: Nothing noteworthy
Bang & Olufsen Beoplay A1 – Under $200 on Amazon
This my personal favorite portable Bluetooth speaker now that the price has recently dropped. Besides the fact that B&O is an iconic name in Hi-Fi for nearly a hundred years, this rock-solid speaker oozes quality with its superb finishes and materials and pumps out a level of refined sweet sounds that can’t be touched until you go much higher in price. This isn’t a party speaker in terms of loud factor, but this one is going to please those looking for great quality sound in a small package. The Good: Superb quality feel, finish, and sound
The Bad: Battery life could be a better
Sonos Play:1 – Under $150 on Amazon (Gen 1)
In fairness, this isn’t a Bluetooth speaker, you’ve got to run Sonos off of your home wireless network, but this is time-tested icon is the benchmark anywhere near this price for a sound that defies it’s under $200 price tag. With the premier multi-room setup and management app, Sonos makes it easy to deliver and manage great music across every room. You can also pair these up for even better stereo sounds. The bottom line is that if you’re looking for a no brainer home wireless speaker, this is the ONE that started it all and still the champ at this level, particularly when you can now get even better deals on the 1st Gen. as long as you’re willing to give up built-in Alexa, and couple other minor tech enhancements which don’t affect sound quality.
The Good: Superb sound quality and value
The Bad: Needs your home network (no Bluetooth or Airplay Option)
